Petit Perles [Little Pearls]
CHAIR
By Joanne Foley, Alias Foley Bergere
This young and pretty Australian, graduate of the school in Charleville-Mezieres,
presents herself in the street with a delightful freshness and frankness,
a triumphant of the uproar of the crowd, the fanfares, the conversations
from the terrace of the café of L’Ideal Bar, next to which
she had set herself up.
She had placed a chair in red velour full of hidden corners and traps,
surmounted by a small precious booth, from which she emerges her face
topped by a wide brimmed hat. She plays “The Maids” by Genet,
transforming herself in turns to Claire, Solange and Madam, offering
the surprising vision of a painted figure on her torso. She sings, plays,
exposes to the flurry of the street this nevertheless confidential text
with an astonishing brashness and naturalness.
